Studies of the amounts of various oxygen isotopes found in Moon rocks and in rocks on Earth show that the proportions are very similar. However, the Moon rocks are highly depleted in iron and the elements needed to form atmosphere or water. In fact, remarkably little evidence was found for organic compounds that can form without biological processes being at work.
